Come early for ice cream, participate in the Hands Four annual membership meeting (all are welcome, whether or not you're a member), and then stay to dance to some of the Northeast's most talented young contra dance musicians: fiddler Tim Ball, a staple of the contra dance and Irish music scenes in western New York for the better part of a decade; clarinetist Rebecca Bosworth-Clemens, who plays for contra dances and English country dances throughout the country; and Rochester cellist Casey Murray, who's currently living in Boston, studying cello performance and American roots music at Berklee College of Music.
Calling for us will be Luke Donforth, who starting dancing and calling in Ithaca while a student at Cornell and who now makes his home in Burlington, Vermont. Luke calls new and traditional contras at weekly dances, festivals, barn dances, weddings, and parties and has earned a reputation for his playful style and his creative choreography.
