About Hands Four Dancers of Ithaca
Hands Four Dancers of Ithaca (HFDI) is a member-run organization dedicated to bringing great dance and music to the Ithaca, New York area. Formed in 2003 as a nonprofit affiliate of the Country Dance and Song Society, HFDI sponsors six to seven dances and special events a year. All of these are open to the general public.
Annual membership in HFDI gives discount admission to dances, free entrance to the occasional member’s dance, voting privileges and e-mail notification and reminders. You may sign up in person at any of our events. Please be sure to include your name, address, and e-mail address. Please note that members' personal information is used for HFDI purposes only and will not be shared with, or sold to, others unless required by law or court order. Members will be notified in advance of any changes to this policy, and will by default be opted out of any such change.
HDFI is governed by a board of directors elected each year at the annual meeting of the membership. The Annual Meeting usually takes place in June. All members are encouraged to attend, speak, and vote. We elect new officers, hear officer reports, assess the past year, and brainstorm new ideas for the coming year. Check back here in the Spring for more info on the next Annual Meeting. The HFDI Board of Directors meets monthly; members, please contact the HDFI president or any Board member if you have any concerns or suggestions to bring to the next board meeting.
HFDI Bylaws The current bylaws were approved by the membership June 16, 2012.
Volunteer Opportunities
We'd love to have your help! Extra hands are always welcome when it comes to posting flyers, setting up and cleaning up, serving goodies at the breaks, or accommodating out-of-town guests. Work a door shift or help set up before the dance in exchange for free admission! If you’re interested, please e-mail us. Be sure to include your name, what you’d like to do, and the best way for us to contact you.
