The Fiddlehead Frolic is an annual day-long dance event featuring contras, music workshops and jams, a song swap, a contra medley, a silent auction, potluck supper... and more!
The 2016 Frolic features:
The Mean Lids: Only as mean as they need to be to keep the grit in their tones and the edge on their tunes, they are never seen without their signature cranial apparel. Spot them by their hats, their long lonesome sounds, and the @$$ kicking "chin-cello" grooves emanating from their mean, mean fiddle fingers.
Mary Wesley: Mary Wesley is a dance leader, caller, and organizer for contras, squares, morris, and family and community dances. A native of Vermont, she travels throughout New England and beyond to follow and share her love of dance. Whether at a scheduled dance, a school event, a wedding, a festival or a private party, Mary’s friendly enthusiasm is sure to please.
George Wilson and Selma Kaplan: The day will also feature afternoon contras with master fiddler George Wilson, who has been playing for contra dancers since the late 1970s, and Selma Kaplan, an accomplished pianist, composer, and arranger.
